On May 7, 2024, Jim Vines had a lightbulb moment. While there was a variety of great magic shows in New York City, he noticed something was missing—a big family-friendly event that could be enjoyed by kids, parents, friends, and anyone looking for a feel-good outing. He decided it was time to create a magic show that brings families together for an unforgettable experience filled with joy, laughter, and wonder.

Jim knew exactly who to call to bring this vision to life—his long-time collaborator and friend, Carl Mercurio. From the moment Jim shared his idea, it was clear they both had the same passion and enthusiasm for creating a show that could entertain and delight audiences of all ages. Together, they began crafting a unique magic experience and searching for the perfect venue.

That’s when Jim connected with Richard Brooks, the head talent booker for the Broadway Comedy Club and Greenwich Village Comedy Club. Richard was immediately on board, sharing Jim and Carl's vision of offering more family-friendly entertainment in the heart of New York City. He saw the potential for The Broadway Magic Hour to be a a new and exciting offering for not only residents of the NYC metro area, but for visitors from around the globe.
